Why It’s Important to Get Allergy Tested

It is very important to get your allergy tested. How can you tell if you have allergies? It is fairly easy. For example, if you have trouble breathing or hives after eating certain foods or swallow something, you should see immediate allergy. The serious reaction that you feel like skin rash, itching and red eyes, nasal congestion, and runny nose is allergy symptoms.

You can save your medical expenses and trips to the doctor through an allergy test. Statistics show that 15% to 20% of children have allergic symptoms. Allergy therapy is the solution to determine the ideal allergy shots that you need to prevent allergies from ever occurring.

If you want to save money in the long run, you have to get an allergy test. Allergy tests can be administered in different ways. The most common is the initial test. In this test, your skin will be scratched with an allergen identifier. If you are allergic to it, skin rashes will become clear. Another option is to test intra-dermal and is similar to the initial test. In this method, the allergens will be injected under your skin.

A blood test called RAST or radioallergosorbent test measures the presence of IgE antibodies in your blood. When there is a suspected allergen, the immune system produces IgE. This is a test that takes time and usually more expensive compared to the first two that are mentioned previously.

When a person has allergies, they may be given allergy shots or immunotherapy. At times, they may also be given medicine prescribed or OTC (over the counter). Moreover, allergy therapy can even save your lives in the long run.
