You can also use them in a public gym, if there is one nearby. The only limitation to using a motorised treadmill is the amount of money you have to spend, but even with that, they still cost less than a good manual treadmill.

The best part is that they are easier to use than a manual treadmill. They require less effort than walking on a manual machine, which can be very enticing to many people.
