Considerations Prior to a Tiling Installation in Perth

Tile installation is an interesting yet trickiest job at the same time if not done correctly. Therefore, to help you out, we have come with a few important things that need to be considered when installing tiles.

1) Remove all furniture

The furniture must always be the first on your list. You need to remove all furniture and objects and other materials from the area where the installation will take place. Some tiling experts in Perth will move your furniture, but there may be additional fees to do it. Before moving, you'll also need to empty the contents of china cabinets, closets, and other similar storage pieces.

2) Check climate control

Keep in mind that the area of installation must be climate controlled (heated or air-conditioned). Indoor humidity should be maintained between 45-65%.

3) Dispose of old floors

You need to decide how your old floor will be disposed of. We strongly recommend that you check with your local ceramic tiles store about the cost and method of disposal. If you prefer to remove your floor cover, do at least one day before installation to allow cleaning and preparation. If you take off the old carpet, please leave a nail strip and pull the staples from the floor from the original pad.

4) Pay attention to the trim

In many cases, prints and whiteboards need to be removed for installation. Installers can do this but at an additional cost and they may not be responsible for damage due to dry or fragile wood. Painted baseboard, woodwork, and paint may need to be repaired after the installation is complete. If necessary, this will be your responsibility.

5) Subflooring.

Your existing subfloor may need to be prepared to receive ceramics, or a new subfloor may be needed. We suggest you discuss this with your local ceramic shoppers and, if subfloor work is needed, it should be done by qualified professionals. It is important that the subfloor be as clean and level as possible.
